I am Jimmy, and I run J.P Bookkeeping out of Downey, California. I work with small business owners and contractors across Southeast Los Angeles County who need their books organized, their records reconciled, and their finances in a state where a CPA or a lender can actually use them.

I hold multiple Intuit certifications, including QuickBooks Advanced ProAdvisor, the top certification tier in the QuickBooks ProAdvisor program. I am also certified in QuickBooks Payroll, Intuit Bookkeeping, Client Advisory Services, and QuickBooks Level 2. These are verifiable credentials issued by Intuit, not self-descriptions.
What the certifications mean for your business: I know QuickBooks at a level where I can set it up correctly from the start, fix it when it has been misused, and train you to use it confidently. Most local bookkeepers cannot do all three.

My Background in Construction and Public Works
Before focusing full-time on bookkeeping, I worked directly in California public works and labor compliance. That background is what makes J.P Bookkeeping different for contractors. I understand job costing because I have lived the problem: tracking labor by project, organizing certified payroll records for DIR reporting, and making sure the books reflect how a subcontractor or general contractor actually bills and gets paid.

How I Work
I start every new engagement the same way: a free consultation where I review whatever records you have, even if they are incomplete or behind, and ask the questions that tell me what your books actually need. Most of the clients I work with are small business owners and contractors in Downey, Norwalk, Compton, Lynwood, and the surrounding SE Los Angeles County communities, and their situations tend to follow a few familiar patterns: books that have not been touched in months, a mix of cash and card transactions that never got sorted, or job costs and payroll records that a CPA flagged as a problem at tax time. From that first review I build a baseline, lay out a clear scope of work, and give you a written estimate before anything is billed. That way you know what you are committing to before we start.
Every engagement starts with a free consultation. I look at your books, identify what needs to be done, and give you a clear estimate before any work begins. No surprise invoices.
Once we start, I work inside QuickBooks Online. You always have access to your own books. I send monthly reports with a plain-language summary of what the numbers mean, not just a PDF you have to figure out on your own.
If you have a CPA, I coordinate directly with them at year-end. If you do not have one, I can point you toward questions to ask when you find one.
